International SEO
International SEO for Irish businesses growing into the UK, the EU and beyond
Selling outside Ireland means competing in new search results, often in other languages. We help you choose the right site structure, set up hreflang and local content, and track each market separately in Google Search Console.

The problem
A .ie website rarely ranks well abroad on its own
Many Irish businesses add UK delivery or a translated page and expect sales to follow. Google still sees an Irish site with Irish prices, Irish contact details and one set of content for every country.
The usual results are the wrong page showing in the wrong country, translated pages treated as duplicates and little visibility in the markets you most want to win.

What's included
What international SEO covers
A plan for each market, then the structure and content to support it.
Market and keyword research
Search demand, competitors and the words buyers use in each country, including differences between Irish and UK English.

A clear choice between country domains, subfolders or subdomains, based on your markets, budget and team.
Hreflang set-up
Hreflang tags that tell Google which page to show in which country and language, tested to avoid conflicts.
Localised content
Pages written for each market with local currency, delivery, contact details and examples, not just a translation.
Technical foundations
Sitemaps, canonical tags and redirects that work across each version of the site, checked in Search Console.
Tracking by market

How it works
How we approach international SEO
Step 1
Benchmark
We review how your site performs in each target country now, using Search Console data and live search results.
Step 2
Plan
You get a market-by-market plan: which pages to build, which structure to use and what to measure.
Step 3
Build
We set up the structure, hreflang, sitemaps and local pages in WordPress, or brief your developers.
Step 4
Track and grow
We monitor indexing and visibility in each market and add content where demand is strongest.
The UK market
Selling to the UK from Ireland
For many Irish businesses the first market outside Ireland is the UK, including Northern Ireland. UK buyers search with different terms, expect prices in sterling and UK delivery details, and compare you with UK competitors.
- A UK section or site with its own pages, not just a currency switcher
- Keyword research using UK search data
- Delivery, returns and VAT details agreed with your accountant
- Google Business Profile and local pages if you have a UK base
See how we work with organisations across the water on our UK page. We set up the platform to your accountant’s instructions; we do not give tax advice.

Common questions
Should we use a separate domain for each country?
Not always. Country domains such as .co.uk send a strong local signal but split your authority and cost more to run. Subfolders such as /uk/ are often the practical choice for a growing business. We recommend a structure based on your markets, budget and team.
What is hreflang and do we need it?
Hreflang is a tag that tells Google which version of a page to show to people in each country or language. If you have similar pages for Ireland and the UK, or pages in several languages, it needs to be set up correctly.
Can you translate our website?
We plan and structure multilingual sites and set up the technical side. For the words themselves we work with your translators, because machine translation alone rarely ranks or converts well.
How do we track results in each country?
We set up Google Search Console and GA4 so you can filter by country, and report on visibility, traffic and enquiries for each market separately.
